Fundamentals /
The financials of a company are often referred to as its fundamentals. Comprised of thousands of individual line items reported at fixed intervals throughout the year, it is the most important window into the health of both private and public companies.
These reports are typically presented four times a year in the United States, though foreign filers may report less often. The filers are all companies that trade on an exchange (e.g. NYSE or NASDAQ) or over-the-counter (OTC). The most widely cited numbers are reported in the primary statements:
- Income Statement - a summary of the period's revenues, expenses and profitability
- Balance Sheet - a snapshot of the state of the assets and liabilities for the firm
- Statement of Cash Flows - how the money flowed during the period.
In addition, there are other key statements relating to change in equity, tables that provide more clarity and
idiosyncratic ones covering loans or even product line breakdowns. We provide both standardized qk_fncodes and non-standardized data, including latest, pit_asof and pit_asfiled.
In addition to these period detailed reports, many firms also issue press releases ahead of full reports to release key information such as earnings or revenue numbers.
QUANTkiosk sources data directly from the company disclosures as they are produced. These include 10-Ks, 10-Qs, as well as 8-Ks and press releases. The data is extracted from both XBRL (structured data), tabular presentations as well as the occassional PDF.
